Photo Journal

Before I was hospitalized, I began to take up photography as a hobby.  After the onset of the TM, I lost my core strength which affected my ability to take photographs with a steady hand.  Yet, I had my camera brought to me at the hospital and I took photos of everything imaginable.  It was a way for me to maintain my sanity.

What you will see here are photos of people, places and things during my journey.  I am so glad that I took these photos because they refresh my memory and bring laughter to my soul when I look at the ridiculousness of some of my shots.  I will blame it on the medication!

Clicking on a photo will enlarge it and give you a little more detail about the shot.  Feel free to comment on any photo in the area provided.

  1. Hi,
I am a student in Occupational Therapy and doing my fieldwork at a rehab facility. I work daily with a woman who has Transverse Myelitis and she is incredibly inspiring as you are! If you could forward any links you find valuable I would appreciate it! Thank you! Heather

    • Hello Heather,
Thank you for your kind words. My goal in creating this blog was to inspire someone. TM feels like a really bad joke has been played on us and it tried to steal away the joy in my life. I hope to let others know that we can still smile and laugh…as hard as it may be to do so, never give up hope of recovery no matter what the doctors tell you.

There is an extremely helpful “private” group on Facebook called Transverse Myelitis Folks. There you will find people from all around the world who are facing the same or similar challenges. It is an open forum for the members to ask questions, vent, cry, laugh, rejoice, learn and share….. Kevin Wallacher is the administrator of the site and he is very dedicated to TM awareness.

I hope that helps. Thank you for visiting my blog.

  2. Hello, my name is Vanessa. I was diagnosed with TM in 2008. At that time I didn’t know or understand what or why this was happening too my body. I ran across your page tonight, because I am feeling sorry for myself & I guess I wanted to see or get in touch with someone that knows what it feels like to go through such a terrible illness. I pray that your TM is in remission, & you are heathy.
    Your TM Sis God Bless,
    Vanessa

    • Hello Vanessa – I’m so glad you stopped by my page and left a comment for me. I hope that you were able to extract something positive from my site to help you to not feel sorry for yourself. This is truly a terrible disease to deal with and I have been quite challenged over the past 2 and 1/2 years BUT I am recovering. For that I am truly grateful. The road has been bumpy but I’m still traveling – lol. We just gotta keep it moving. I’m going to send you a link to your email that I think will be extremely helpful to you when you are feeling blue. It also has a wealth of information. Feel free to contact me anytime.
